Common Mistake Guide

Common Mistake Guide

COMMON MISTAKE #1 — SELECTING FORMALWEAR FROM A CATALOG OR MAGAZINE WITHOUT SEEING IT IN PERSON

Seeing is believing when selecting tuxedos. Visits to formalwear specialty shops are a must. Only then can you know for sure that a particular tuxedo is right for you. These stores carry designer styles in stock and can answer many questions. Choose a shop with a reputation for carrying a wide selection of formalwear stock and accessories. "In-stock" is important because special orders are often shipped in the wrong size and there is rarely time for reorders. And get fitted in the store after you've made your selection.

Tuxedos can really look good in a catalog or magazine. But more than one groom has been disappointed when it arrives.

Play it safe. Select a tuxedo after you've seen it in person.

COMMON MISTAKE #2 — THE MYTH OF THE NATIONAL BRAND

Thinking you need to search for a "National Brand" because you have people attending your wedding from out of state. That is not so! You can request a courtesy fitting at any formal shop then call, fax, or emails those measurements directly to us. With a large "warehouse" or "catalog" shop, whatever is shipped is what you get. There are no backups.

COMMON MISTAKE #3 — NOT HAVING ALL MEASUREMENTS TAKEN BY A FORMAL WEAR SPECIALIST

Properly fitted formalwear is a must for comfort as well as looks. A shop that stocks it own formalwear gives you more control over fit and any other changes and alterations.

When out-of-state measurements are required, insist your men get fitted in a formalwear specialty shop. Then send those measurements to the rental company where the wedding is booked.

COMMON MISTAKE #4 — WEARING THE WRONG ATTIRE

From the most elegant tuxedos to planning a casual wedding on beach or at a destination resort, the men should always look their absolute best.

A light colored suit, perfect for that beach wedding. Also a simple neck-tie can also be used to pick up the color of the girl's gowns.

COMMON MISTAKE #5 — FAILURE TO DOUBLE-CHECK ACCESSORIES ON YOUR DAY OF PICK-UP

Be sure to pay attention to every detail on the day you pick-up your tuxedo. Items such as vests, pocket squares, studs, etc., all contribute to creating a bridal party with a total look and consistent look.

COMMON MISTAKE #6 — NOT TRYING ON YOUR WHOLE OUTFIT ON IN THE STORE

When the wedding date rolls around, it is very important that all the men in your party pick-up and try-on everything two or three days before the wedding. Although alteration are minimized when have been done in the store, you should still try on everything right down to the studs. Then you will know if you need any adjustments or replacements. It really pays to take those few extra minutes to try on the whole outfit!
